The work
Guides make the outdoors approachable for first-time guests. Most sessions are half-day lake paddles or local trail walks, with equipment checks and concise safety briefings built into every departure. The team trains on Juniper Wake routes before anyone leads independently.
Responsibilities

Juniper Wake Lodge
Juniper Wake Lodge is a fictional, family-operated demonstration host on Lake Pend Oreille. The team welcomes small groups for paddling, trail days, and quiet weekends by the water.
Seasonal crew rotate through clear stations, share a staff meal after the evening turn, and have two consecutive days off whenever the operating calendar allows.
How the team is managed
Managers publish the weekly schedule ten days ahead, hold a short morning stand-up, and use one-on-ones for feedback instead of correcting people in front of guests.
